EAAS Mailing List
The EAAS mailing list is another way to distribute and receive information. The list is moderated on behalf of EAAS by Vasileios N. Delioglanis (HELAAS Board Member) and Izabella Kimak (EAAS Secretary-General).
Through this list you will receive calls-for-papers pertaining to the field of American Studies delivered to your email inbox. The list also serves to disseminate information from the EAAS and member associations in Europe. In addition, we encourage you to use this list to communicate other information that might be useful to American Studies scholars in Europe, such as announcements of conferences, jobs, grants, fellowships, and publication opportunities.

This new book offers the first sustained history of Un-Americanism. Drawing on the extensive use of previously unused or underused archives, it argues that Un-Americanism has been a constant in American life from the Revolution to the Trump era, yet Americans have never agreed an objective definition for it. American history can be understood as a series of contests, often between the political left and right, to become the public arbiter of un-Americanism’s meaning and therefore to control its boundaries and its use.
French Association for American Studies (AFEA) 2027 doctoral symposium

The AFEA’s doctoral symposium will take place on May 25, 2027 (Université de Montpellier Paul Valéry, Montpellier, France). It is open to PhD candidates from all disciplines in North American Studies, regardless of their specific research field. Participation and attending the conference is free of charge. PhD candidates in the first or second year of their doctoral research are especially encouraged to submit.

The HCA Spring Academy provides 20 international Ph.D. students with the opportunity to present and thoroughly discuss their ongoing Ph.D. projects. The conference offers a forum for Ph.D. candidates in which they can present their research candidly and receive valuable feedback.

We invite you to submit papers that explore American Studies through a digital lens, examining the multisensory quality of multimodal works as well as their creative, historical, social, political, and educational relationships to formative narratives and epistemologies. We particularly welcome papers that analyze the representation of digital cultures and technologies in U.S.-American popular culture, film, art, and literature, as well as papers that interrogate the impact of the digital turn on American Studies itself.
